The University of Bridgeport, School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time faculty appointment to commence in the spring 2019 or fall 2019 semester. As a new, dynamic and growing program, the University is seeking to add faculty committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service with a specialization in Pediatric or Maternal Child Health (MCH) at the undergraduate level.
Appointment rank will be based on qualifications and experience of the candidate as well as departmental need and position requirements. A Ph.D., DNP or related terminal degree is required for a tenure-track appointment. Academic rank and related salary are dependent on education level, demonstrated scholarly achievement, teaching and clinical experience.
The incumbent will be responsible for teaching the didactic courses as well as clinical supervision in Pediatric or Maternal Child Health (MCH) Nursing. The well qualified candidate will have the ability to teach across the curriculum with a specialization preference in Maternal Child Health/Pediatric Nursing.
In additional to classroom and clinical teaching, faculty members are expected to pursue scholarly activities, participate in school/university and community services, assist in advising students, curriculum development and program evaluation. Full-time faculty also participate in commencement and convocation activities as well special University meetings.
Teaching schedule may include days, evenings and/or weekends. Participation in other University and community service activities consistent with the mission of the University.
- Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialty certification in pediatrics or maternal child health nursing;
- 2-3 years of recent teaching experience in an academic nursing program;
- Pediatric or Maternal Child Health (MCH) is required;
- Ability to demonstrate working with diverse populations;
- Current CT RN licensure required (or license eligible).
- Doctorate in nursing or related field or substantial progress towards the doctorate with anticipated completion with 1-2 years.
- Specialty certification in pediatrics or maternal child health nursing
- Minimum of two- three (2-3) years of recent teaching experience in a university nursing program.
