The University of Delaware School of Nursing seeks an experienced and visionary individual to become the Director of our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, with an 11-month, non-tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. Responsibilities include oversight and evaluation of the DNP program, including coordination of student recruitment, admission, and advisement, and working with the Clinical Coordinator to ensure optimal clinical learning experiences. The position also requires teaching students. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Nursing, certification as an advanced practice registered nurse practitioner in Family Practice, Adult Health-Gerontology or Psychiatric-Mental Health, and at least 3 years teaching experience in a DNP program. U.S. RN licensure with Delaware RN licensure eligibility is required and skill in online education is a plus. All faculty are expected to contribute to a welcoming campus environment that embraces diversity.

GENERAL INFORMATION: The School of Nursing ( is a thriving academic unit of 40 faculty, approximately 725 undergraduate students and 125 graduate students. Accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the School offers innovative, dynamic pre-licensure baccalaureate (Traditional and Accelerated), and post-master’s and post-baccalaureate doctoral programs, including the DNP and a PhD in Nursing Science, spanning face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online programs. With an outstanding and growing research program, the School is currently ranked 45 out of 69 Schools of Nursing in dollars received from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Areas of research excellence include aging, community engagement and health disparities, symptom science, and self-management. The School also houses the interdisciplinary Nurse Managed Primary Care Center (NMPCC), a rapidly growing, innovative and evidence-based practice that provides prevention and wellness services, chronic disease management, mental health care, and Parkinson’s disease treatment to a diverse patient population.

The School of Nursing is integrated within the College of Health Sciences, which also includes the Departments of Behavioral Health and Nutrition, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, and Physical Therapy. Ranked fifth nationally, among the best places to study the health professions by College Factual, the College has recently opened an exciting new 100,000 sq. ft. clinical research facility and will occupy 7 floors in an adjacent 10-story tower opening in fall 2018. The School of Nursing will occupy 11 additional faculty research spaces in this new facility, including an Adaptive Living Apartment to foster practice research, a symptom science laboratory, and an interdisciplinary learning laboratory for simulation. With annual research expenditures of approximately $26 million, the College currently houses a number of large, interdisciplinary grants with significant funding from the NIH and Department of Defense.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
