Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month teaching faculty position for the Practical Nursing Program.
As a member of the Nursing faculty, the teaching load is 15 credits per semester, which may include distance-learning courses and on- and off-campus courses/clinical during the day and evening. In addition to teaching, all faculty members advise students, serve on both program and college committees, and participate in other activities that support the mission of the college. Such activities may include, but are not limited to, club sponsorship, student recruitment, course and program evaluation, community service, and mentoring new and part-time faculty. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education.
REQUIRED: Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Nursing, current Virginia RN license, and two years of direct nursing experience in a clinical area. The successful candidate must have the ability to utilize current classroom technology and experience using word processing and spreadsheet software.
DESIRED: Teaching experience in a Nursing Program in a community college setting. Experience with academic advising, as well as student success and retention efforts, in an educational setting.
