The College, founded in 1967, is an accredited, associate degree-granting institution of higher education serving Delaware and Chester counties. It is the seventh largest post-secondary institution in undergraduate enrollment in the Greater Philadelphia region, serving nearly 27,000 credit and non- credit students annually with a comprehensive array of programs, including computer-based and distance-learning classes.
The College’s mission is to offer educational programs and services that are accessible, comprehensive, community-centered, and flexible in order to enhance the development of the communities and residents of its service area. Its competency-based curriculum certifies DCCC graduates as pos- sessing the skills, attitudes, and values needed to perform competently in their area of study.
Additional responsibilities include but not limited to the teaching a full load of courses in nursing (15 credit/semester), including didactic and clinical components at healthcare facility or community-based site; utilize advanced technology to enhance student learning; use classroom assessment tech- niques and creative teaching strategies that actively engage student in the learning process; follow an approved course of study with measurable objectives; participate effectively in the program/course assessment process; collaborate with faculty members in the revisions/updates to courses and course materials; offer required office hours that meets student needs; advise student, as assigned, to develop sound academic/career plans; evalu- ate student performance and achievement of outcomes; participate in department activities including nursing faculty meetings, curriculum develop- ment and evaluation, and annual report and accreditation activities; participate in the Colleges Advisory System and serve on college committees; serve on “Ad Hoc” committees as appropriate; represent the College/department in community events.
The ideal candidate must have a Master’s degree in Nursing and should have recent experience teaching at the college-level and current clinical expe- rience is required. A strong background in medical/surgical nursing is required. S/He should have both a strong background and desire to teach estab- lished Nursing curricular courses. The applicant should be an excellent instructor more committed to teaching than to research, who is familiar with curriculum development, competency-based education, alternative learning styles, classroom technologies, and distance learning. In addition, the applicant should be willing to take part in active service to the department, the division, and the college, and must be committed to academic excel- lence, diversity, and a spirit of collaboration.
Salary: A minimum starting salary of $52,025 and a comprehensive and competitive fringe benefit package are provided.
