Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants to fill two full-time tenure-track Nursing Instructor positions on the Walla Walla campus.

Walla Walla Community College is a comprehensive institution providing baccalaureate transfer, workforce, precollege, and extended learning programs. Although most programs are located on the 110-acre Walla Walla campus site, programs are also offered at the WWCC Center in Clarkston, Washington, at Department of Corrections Facilities in Walla Walla and Connell, Washington, and at other off-campus locations. Over 10,880 students enroll annually. Full-time equivalent enrollment in 2012-2013 was more than 5,262 full-time equivalent students.


Walla Walla Community College has been nationally recognized for its achievements, most recently as the recipient of the 2013 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.

General Responsibilities:
Full-time teaching faculty are credentialed, professional educators with the primary responsibility of providing a quality education for all WWCC students. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of teacher, mentor, and facilitator of learning. In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty are responsible for engaging in professional development and accomplishment activities as well as providing service to the college. This position will advise students and teach in a classroom and clinical setting as part of a faculty team to 70+ first year students and 65 second year students.


Teaching/Equivalent Responsibilities:

  • Teaching includes both teaching and teaching-related activities. Teaching-related activities
  • encompass classroom preparation, advising, curriculum development, textbook orders, grading,
  • student outcomes assessment development and implementation, and availability during office hours. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Teach assigned classes at scheduled time and place.
  • Demonstrate professional skills appropriate to the teaching assignment. Provide each student with a comprehensive syllabus at the beginning of the quarter.
  • Provide clear explanations, assignments, and directions.
  • Conduct appropriate and frequent evaluations of student performance and provide feedback so students are aware of their performance throughout the quarter.
  • Assign and submit grades based upon results of evaluations and college grading policy.
  • Maintain student records and grades.
  • Post and be available during office hours that are reasonable for student access.
  • Advise and mentor students on program options, career plans, and graduation requirements.
  • Maintain course outlines and syllabi to reflect program curriculum.
  • Review and recommend program textbooks, materials, and technology.
  • Utilize available technology appropriate to assignment.
  • Participate in program planning and budgeting.
  • Post measurable outcomes and assessment on the college-wide On-line
  • Catalogue Administrator (OCA) and comply with expectations of the Northwest
  • Commission on Colleges and Universities from which results are used to continuously improve the college.



  • Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university required.
  • Three full-time equivalent years in clinical experience in nursing required.
  • Registered or eligible to be a Registered Nurse in the states of Washington required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse populations required.
  • Demonstrated teaching skills in nursing desired.
  • Demonstrated experience using a variety of teaching and assessment techniques – including the use of technology – that enhance student success desired.
  • Demonstrated experience with curriculum evaluation, outcomes measurement and accreditation desired.
  • Word processing skills desired.
  • Current experience in medical-surgical nursing highly desired.



This is a full-time tenure track faculty position which is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Faculty terms and conditions of employment are negotiated with their exclusive bargaining representative, the Association for Higher Education. In accordance with the provisions of the Federal Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, Walla Walla Community College hires only United States citizens and aliens authorized to work in the United States. Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment and official college transcripts. Candidate may be subject to a criminal history background check as a condition for consideration of employment. The College has joined the Fresh Air Campus Challenge and may become a smoke or tobacco free campus in the near future.



The College has a negotiated faculty salary schedule. Employee placement on the schedule is determined by education level and experience. Salary is dependent on the number of days of the contract and the candidate’s placement on the negotiated faculty salary schedule. Initial placement is generally $49,187- $52,868 for a standard 176-day contract, dependent on qualifications (additional compensation for doctorate degree). The College has an excellent faculty benefit program including medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance; paid sick leave; and retirement plan. The college also supports faculty professional development. Walla Walla Community College requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary.
