Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate students in Medical-Surgical Nursing (classroom, clinical, and simulation lab using moderate fidelity manikins) and function as an expert in one of the following areas: Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing; Pediatric Nursing; and/or Community Health Nursing. Responsibilities may also include teaching online courses for RN to BSN and MSN students depending on educational background and experience. Advise a diverse population of undergraduate students; participate in program, department, and university committees; and undertake a regular research program or other discipline–related scholarly activity involving students as appropriate. Make professional and university service contributions and advance nursing at Mansfield University; and demonstrate excellence in teaching, continuing scholarly growth and service to the university (required for tenure and promotion).

Qualifications

Minimum requirements: Doctoral Degree (PhD) or ABD in Nursing or related field (ABD candidates must complete the doctorate within 18 months of hire to continue in the position). Master’s Degree in Nursing if doctorate is not in nursing. Licensure or eligibility for licensure from the PA State Board of Nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse. If the successful candidate supervises students in a clinical setting in NY, then licensure from the NY State Board of Nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse is required. Must have recent clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing and function as an expert practitioner in at least one of the following areas: Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing; Pediatric Nursing; and/or Community Health Nursing. Additional qualifications: Experience in teaching pathophysiology at the graduate level and/or teaching at the graduate level in nurse educator or nurse administrator tracks; online teaching and simulation; college-level teaching including evaluating and advising students; supervision of clinical learning experiences at the baccalaureate level; ability to effectively use technology in teaching; ability to adapt to changing technologies that support teaching and learning; experience with cultural differences; and excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Must meet all health agency requirements by the start of employment including: immunizations or screening for measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, hepatitis B, tuberculosis, varicella, and valid BCLS for healthcare providers. Preferred: Experience with nursing program accreditation; writing accreditation reports; evaluating program-level outcomes; and experience with utilizing ATI standardized testing. Other conditions of employment are verification of all earned degrees through the receipt of original transcripts, an acceptable background check report, authorization to be employed in the United States or the ability to obtain prior to commencement of employment, and positive references.
