The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith is located on a beautiful 140-acre campus in Fort Smith, Arkansas, a historic city of more than 80,000. It is situated in the beautiful River Valley of Western Arkansas, nestled between the scenic Ozark and Ouachita Mountains, which offer plentiful opportunities for outdoor activity. Fort Smith, the second largest city in Arkansas, is also within easy driving distance of Tulsa, Kansas City, Dallas, Little Rock, and Memphis. UAFS has been a leader in learning since 1928 and serves more than 20,000 people annually in credit and noncredit programs.
The LPN program is a 12-month program. Primaryresponsibilities include classroom and clinical teaching in the LPN program in the School of Nursing. Other responsibilities include ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum; student advisement, recruitment, and retention activities; professional development; scholarly activity; participation in program, college, and university committees and activities that benefit the School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, and the University. Other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in nursing; plus current enrollment in a master’s degree in nursing program (or willingness to continue formal education to attain the master’s degree); clinical experience in nursing; and an Arkansas RN license or eligibility to obtain. Teaching experience in an LPN program or other nursing program is preferred. Desired qualifications include demonstrated experience and leadership skills in the development of instructional materials, including alternative delivery methods such as online courses (Blackboard preferred); the ability to use technology as a teaching and learning tool; and a commitment to high professional standards. Demands of the position require strong communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a team. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, with appointment expected at a minimum rank of instructor.
