The University of Connecticut School of Nursing Office of Financial Management seeks applicants for a full-time position as a Financial Assistant II (UCP V). Under the direction of the Fiscal Manager, the position is responsible for specialized administrative and fiscal services that assist with the financial operations of the School. The Financial Assistant II must be capable of working independently, but also have the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Duties: Provide post grant account management; manage and reconcile School travel; maintain and monitor financial records and accounts for the department; review, code and track purchase requisitions, approve payment requests in the Kuali financial system; resolve problems related to departmental purchasing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable; utilize financial data mart to prepare regular statements for departmental revenues, expenditures, and encumbrances; prepare reports as appropriate to meet University, State, federal and department requirements; may supervise and/or train staff as needed; perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Five to ten years progressively responsible experience in financial record keeping, supervision, and reporting; sound knowledge of budget preparation and fiscal control methods; knowledge of accounting practices and procedures; ability to analyze and modify fiscal procedures; ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office with proficiency using Excel.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other business related field with 2-4 years related experience; experience working in a higher education setting; demonstrated customer service; experience with University financial and reporting systems such as Kuali Financial Services, Webfocus, and Peoplesoft, .
Appointment Terms: This is a full-time, 12 month position. Salary is commensurate with experience. Work hours will be 8:00am to 4:00pm, with one hour lunch. Work location is Storrs, CT.
