Dedicated to its vision to create the future of health care through discovery and to become the national leader in health care, health care reform, biomedical innovation and education, Michigan Medicine is seeking a passionate and visionary nurse leader to assume the position of Chief Nurse Executive (CNE). Nursing at Michigan represents an extraordinary professional nursing community of over 5,600 nurses in a multitude of practice and advanced practice roles across the enterprise’s full continuum of care.
Reporting to the President of the Clinical Enterprise (CE), the CNE is a member of the senior executive team and will be involved in all aspects of the mission of the CE. The CNE leads the professional nursing practice and develops and articulates the vision and strategic direction of nursing care across the enterprise. The CNE leads the Nursing Executive Council (NEC) and is accountable for the Nursing Governance Model and programs which support the nursing profession. The CNE is a partner and member of the University of Michigan School of Nursing to support education, research and scholarship activities across the nursing community.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative and strategic nursing leader with experience leading all aspects of patient care services and leading measurable improvements in quality, patient satisfaction and cost of care. The next CNE will be an approachable and visible executive who leads through influence and collaboration. The CNE will be solution-driven with an ability to manage complexity in Michigan Medicine’s recent restructure of its leadership and organizational units into a more integrated and unified enterprise. The CNE will have a minimum of 10 years of administrative responsibility within a complex academic medical center, large teaching health care facility or experience working in a comparable health system with progressive experience in nursing leadership positions at the senior level. A Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field is required.
