Auburn University School of Nursing invites applications from accomplished, innovative education leaders for consideration as the Associate Dean for Academics. This is a full-time 12-month, tenured/tenure track faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending on experience and qualifications.

Auburn University is geographically located in a moderate climate with easy access to both beach and mountain recreational facilities and is situated along the rapidly developing I-85 corridor between Atlanta, Georgia and Montgomery, Alabama. The Auburn-Opelika metropolitan statistical area has a population of 140,000, excellent public school systems, a regional medical center and the distinction of being recognized as one of the “best small towns in America”.
The School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and offers baccalaureate and graduate programs with Primary Care Practitioner and Nurse Educator options. Implementation of the RN to BSN and DNP programs are scheduled to begin Fall 2017. The School of Nursing will move into their new state-of-the-art 89,000 square foot building in Summer 2017, with classes beginning Fall Semester. The Associate Dean of the School of Nursing will be a critical member of the School’s academic leadership team to support these initiatives.
The Associate Dean for Academics is responsible for all matters broadly related to academic programs. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Nursing, the Associate Dean provides leadership and direction to the School’s instructional mission, is responsible for program assessment, and is expected to provide reports for internal and external audiences, including the Alabama Board of Nursing, SACS and CCNE. The Associate Dean is responsible for the scheduling of classes in the major, for teaching assignments, and for the annual evaluation of the clinical faculty. S/he works closely with the dean, the director of the graduate program, the admissions staff and the development staff to realize the strategic goals of the School.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires an earned doctorate in nursing or a relevant discipline and master’s degree in Nursing. Must have a teaching and scholarly record meriting appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank in an academic unit within a School/College of Nursing; excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated effective problem solving skills; demonstrated performance in making sound, independent judgments; positive record of advising and mentoring students; demonstrated understanding of the needs of students who differ from each other with respect to culture, gender, and age; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially with faculty, staff, students and administrators. Must have strong research evidenced by publications in leading academic journals. Must be eligible for Alabama RN license and must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with successful experience coordinating or administering academic programs are preferred.
