The Department of Nursing at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track nursing faculty position in our undergraduate program of studies. Our faculty welcome new voices as we approach a changing curriculum focus with an emphasis on the new baccalaureate essentials. The Department of Nursing offers a generic baccalaureate program in nursing and the RN to BSN option, focusing on leadership, ethics, and social justice. The Nursing Department is one of the largest departments in the College, with approximately 250 students enrolled in undergraduate programs. The program is fully accredited by CCNE. This position begins Fall 2009.
SUNY College at Plattsburgh serves 5,500 undergraduates and 500 graduate students. It offers more than 50 majors and a wide range of special programs. Situated near Lake Champlain, the Adirondacks, and Canada, the college's unique location provides rich recreational, cultural and educational opportunities.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities include classroom, online, and clinical instruction. The primary teaching responsibility for this position is team teaching of fundamentals and medical surgical nursing. Other responsibilities include advancing the mission of the department by contributing to the development of new and innovative programs in Nursing and service to the department, university and community, student advising and scholarship.
Qualifications: A Master's degree in Nursing in Adult Health, Nursing Education or Medical/Surgical nursing and RN licensure or eligibility for New York State RN licensure are required. An earned doctorate in nursing or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have demonstrated teaching ability and clinical expertise in acute care; teaching scholarship and service accomplishments commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor. Experience working with diverse populations and college teaching experience preferred.
