The School of Nursing and Health Studies, in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Northern Illinois University, invites applications for an anticipated tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level in its nursing program to begin August 2015.

The position will involve undergraduate teaching to a diverse student population, which may include online course delivery and travel to off-campus locations, as well as research, university and professional service, and student advising. The position may also include graduate-level teaching.

The nursing program offer a B.S. in Nursing through pre-licensure and degree-completion programs, and an M.S. in Nursing with specializations in Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Nurse Educator. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

The successful candidate will have a doctorate, preferably a Ph.D., in nursing science or a closely related area (applicants who are ABD will be considered if their dissertation will be complete by August 1, 2015), have an M.S. in Nursing, be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Illinois, and have educational and experiential background in child health nursing.

Those candidates who have the successful university-level teaching experience and a proven ability to conduct research and secure external funding will be given preference.
