The Assistant Nurse Manager for the Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA) area manages direct care nursing functions to assure that health services, medical care, medical/health professions education, and evidence based practice research programs are delivered effectively and efficiently. Positions in this job family will have direct patient care responsibilities. Efforts will focus on planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and improving health care operations, clinical and education programs of clinical departments.

Education Required:
Baccalaureate in Nursing is required.
Experience Required:
1-3 years current experience with Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA) patients.
Demonstrated skill in leadership/management and experience in clinical practice required.
Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments.
Proficiency with computer software applications (such as Microsoft programs)
Excellent problem solving skills, decision making and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated job related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment.
Current license to practice nursing in Iowa.
Certification in a role or specialty through a nationally recognized professional nursing certification body.  If not currently certified must seek certification in a role or specialty within 6 months to 1 year.
Desirable Qualifications:
Member/involvement in professional organizations
Current experience in a large academic medical center.
Experience in a union environment.
